2023: A year in review

As we cross the threshold into 2024, we send heartfelt hope that you have a wonderful year ahead. As the Hillcrest Healthcare team is immersed in planning for some big things, we’re also reflecting for a bit to appreciate all that happened in 2023.

The heart of healthcare is serving others, and in 2023, our communities cared for 1,226 patients. Additionally, 801 patients were discharged after successful rehabilitation in our communities. We’re thankful to get to touch so many lives every day.

Hillcrest at Home – our division that offers non-medical, personal care services – continues to grow as caregivers provide companionship, independence and support. We anticipate even more success in 2024 as we strive to help seniors live better, healthier and more fulfilling lives.

The Hillcrest team was among the partners of an Intergenerational Playspace in Beverly Park, pioneered by Legacy Parks Foundation, that celebrated its grand opening in November 2023. It’s the first such space in Knoxville, aimed at helping both seniors and children, including boosting social engagement and slowing cognitive decline in seniors.

The amazing Hillcrest activity directors continued to deliver engaging and fun activities in our communities in 2023, from events around major holidays to those centered in food, crafts … or generally any reason to gather and celebrate!

The Mason Center for Healthcare Education offers education, certification and training in healthcare fields – especially those relevant to senior care. The center expanded its offerings in 2023 and celebrated its official opening with a community ribbon cutting in early January 2024. The January event marks a significant step forward in advancing healthcare education and fostering innovation in the field.

Hillcrest Healthcare Foundation continues to increase access to healthcare services, education and technology, and it received continued support through successful fundraisers, including the Fourth Annual Hillcrest Healthcare Foundation Golf Tournament, which raised more than $32,000; Third Annual Knox Rox Benefit Concert, which moved to April and was the biggest Knox Rox to date; and Breakfast with the Grinch, which had a new location and served almost 100 attendees.

Additionally in 2023, we’ve welcomed interns, received awards, helped team members continue their education, been boosted by amazing volunteers, helped rehabilitation patients overcome the odds, loved on our senior residents and partnered with key community organizations to make an even bigger impact. Our goal is to carry this positive momentum into 2024.

We’re proud of our diverse initiatives and business offerings and there are exciting things planned for this year, including some distinctive new and enhanced services that will benefit our region.

We send you our sincere hope for good health and contentment. We commit anew to work each day to show how Everyone Matters at Hillcrest Healthcare. Follow along in 2024 with Hillcrest Healthcare on Facebook.
