Hillcrest at Home provides seniors companionship, independence and support

Supporting seniors through companionship and assistance with everyday needs helps seniors live better, healthier and more fulfilling lives. Hillcrest at Home provides non-medical support services to seniors to offer a friendly face, camaraderie and a helping hand.

November is National Family Caregivers Month, a time to recognize those who sacrifice so much to take care of the needs of others. Often, caregivers are family members who provide around-the-clock care. Hillcrest at Home aims to help ease the pressure on family caregivers by providing personalized caregiving services in homes, or in a nursing or assisted living facility. We partner with families to take some of the load and become part of the family caregiver team.

Our caregivers help keep clients safe and encourage their independence. Kristen Clearman is a caregiver with Hillcrest at Home and shares: “To keep my clients safe, I look at the big picture and think ahead, considering their schedule and mobility. I remove obstacles and hazards and make things more accessible. I’ve gotten to know my clients on a personal level and know their patterns, so I work to find ways to keep these activities as safe as possible.

“This goes hand-in-hand with keeping them independent. It is always a priority to ensure that we are assisting – not taking over – to facilitate feelings of being encouraged and able.”

Hillcrest at Home offers many services, including:

“The most rewarding thing about being a caregiver is being able to meet a need that creates a sense of relief in a person’s mind and heart.” Kristen shares. “I love knowing that when I leave a client’s home, I have left them in a better place. It’s more than just a job, it’s an opportunity to care for someone who may not get it otherwise, and we strive to go above and beyond, helping to decorate for holidays or even assisting in making a family recipe.”
