Hillcrest Healthcare prioritizes serving seniors throughout the community

At Hillcrest Healthcare, we love seniors, and are committed to helping and serving both the patients and residents within our three Knoxville locations as well as seniors throughout the community.

We are so grateful for our team members who invest the time and energy to support important initiatives, and for our great partners who work every day to provide the resources and services that seniors in our area need and deserve.

The Community Action Committee’s CAC Office on Aging is an amazing resource for seniors, with around two dozen programs aimed at supporting the unique needs of seniors. These programs cover education, nutrition – including mobile meals, recreation, companionship and more.

Its Senior Companion Program sends volunteers to those who are experiencing loneliness, isolation and barriers of aging – building relationships through meetings in homes and in adult day centers.

The Snowflake Ball is a fun fundraiser for the program that includes live music, dancing, networking, dinner, silent auction and the crowning of a King and Queen. In addition to being a bronze sponsor of the event and silent auction donor, our own Lavonda Cantrell and Trudy Durham participate on the organization’s senior advisory council, which helps promote events and activities and manage auction items. The February 2024 Snowflake Ball raised more than $68,000 to support the mission of the program.

The Senior Companion Program currently is experiencing a shortage of volunteers, so if you’re age 55 and older with a heart to serve others, please consider volunteering for this important service. Hillcrest Healthcare also welcomes individuals, families and groups of all ages to volunteer at our three communities as well. Our volunteers are a source of joy and light to the residents. We’re also happy to announce that Hillcrest Healthcare Foundation’s Knox Rox Benefit Concert on April 27, 2024, will split proceeds in support of CAC Office on Aging’s Daily Living Center, which provides adult day services to seniors. Get your tickets here!

Other organizations that we’ve supported include Hope Springs Adult Day Care Center, Alzheimer’s Tennessee and more to give back to seniors supported by these great partners.

Keep up with all of the senior love we relish in spreading throughout the community by following Hillcrest Healthcare on Facebook, and consider how you, your family or social/sports groups can lend a helping hand to serve seniors.
