Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month means so much to us

June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month aimed at raising awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

Hillcrest Healthcare provides compassionate care, including memory care services, to all of our patients, many of whom are among the 50 million people worldwide living with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

We are committed to helping save memories by raising funds and awareness of this devastating disease.

Hillcrest Healthcare is taking action
Hillcrest Healthcare is participating in the First Annual Knox Rox Benefit Concert supporting the Hillcrest Healthcare Foundation and Alzheimer’s Tennessee. The event on Saturday, Aug. 28, will include axe throwing, food trucks, cornhole and a performance by Lavonda Cantrell and the 865 Bandits. Lavonda serves as our director of marketing and special projects and vice president of Hillcrest Healthcare Foundation.

The event will take place at 865 Axe Throwing at 5821 Babelay Road in Knoxville, and proceeds will benefit both organizations. Mark your calendar and reserve your tickets before June 30 to get the early bird rate of $25 per person here.

Hillcrest Healthcare is a Benefactor sponsor for the Alzheimer’s Tennessee Knoxville Walk to Make Alzheimer’s a Memory. We invite you to join our Hillcrest Walk Team on Sunday, June 27, at Lakeshore Park.

Get involved
The Alzheimer’s Association website offers several ways to raise awareness, including wearing purple during the month of June and sharing the reasons why you “go purple” by posting your story on social media using the hashtag #ENDALZ.

Community members are encouraged to participate in a fundraising activity of their choosing on June 20 – the summer solstice and longest day of the year. Click here to find some activities.

By 2050, it is estimated that 12.7 million people will have Alzheimer’s – so the time to act is now to raise money for research for treatment, medication, awareness and prevention.

You can keep up with all events at our three Hillcrest Healthcare communities by liking our Facebook page. We hope to see you at the Knox Rox Benefit Concert!
