Hillcrest HealthCare was founded in 1960 as Hillcrest Medical Nursing Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, board-run organization. Hillcrest was founded in cooperation with Knox County government with a mission of providing for the long-term care needs of seniors.
Our organization has grown from a single program in one location to four facilities on three campuses with over 500 licensed beds serving Knox County.
Hillcrest HealthCare primarily serves the need of individuals over the age of 60 who require some level of medical and nursing care. Hillcrest is unique in that over 70% of its funding comes from the Medicaid program and it is not currently financially supported by any trusts or religious affiliations. The Hillcrest-Beverly Foundation was created in 2004 to help raise additional funding.
